Salmon Arm Director Candidates Introduce themselves – Shikamas Eagle Valley News

Gina Johnny

Born and raised in the Salmon Arm, I am a member of the Cstelen community (Adams Lake) and live in the Sxwetsmellp6 community.

I graduated Salmon Arm Senior Secondary, 4 years training as a teacher, 7 years as an Aboriginal support worker, Certificate in Care Aids, Certificate in Linguistics in Secwewpemctsin (Shuswap) from Simon Fraser University and has 20 years of experience as a politician. Leader (Councilor) of Cstelen.

i have two sons. My Husband She is from Nte?kepmxcin Nation – Coldwater (Merritt BC) and is one of the first graduates of UBC’s Indigenous Teacher Education Program. I have many nephews, nieces and foster children who are SD83 students or have graduated.

I love history, reading, especially my family, and I care deeply about land, water, and our future. Recently, I became a member of the Okanagan (Shuswap) Historical Society and the Shuswap Writers Group.

I believe in commitment, communication and transparency and believe that all students should have an equal opportunity to succeed in their education. I advocate for social justice, vulnerable students, truth and reconciliation, and believe that the inclusion and implementation of indigenous (local) content in school curricula can be a valuable asset and assistant.

Amanda Krebs

It has been an honor to serve on the Board of Education for the last four years.

During that time, I was chairman for three years, chairman of the Financial Facilities Committee for four years, and chairman of the Budget Committee for one year.

I have 2 children. One attends South Broadview and one of hers attends her SMS. I am a math and science instructor at Okanagan College, College and she is a K-12 and she has over 18 years of teaching experience.

My degrees include Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Education and Master of Science in Mathematics. I have a strong financial background and really enjoy reading and analyzing budgets!

My main strengths include being able to work well with others, having an empathetic disposition, being able to express my opinions while listening and learning from others, and having a strong work ethic. and taking pride in everything you do.

As a board member of SD83 School, I will continue to provide compassionate leadership, financial responsibility and a passion for teaching to make each student’s learning process accessible, meaningful and positive.

After moving to Salmon Arm in 1994, Marianne has held leadership roles at the school district, community and state levels.

Her higher education includes a Bachelor of Arts (French and Mathematics) and Education, and a Master of Arts in Administration, Curriculum and Education.

In 1996, Marianne’s paper ‘Development of an Elementary French Immersion Program’ was submitted to SD83 to support the future development of early French immersion.

When not working on the school board, Marianne volunteers in her community in various capacities, including refereeing basketball and volleyball in the school gymnasium and serving as vice president of the Salmon Arm Tennis Club and Salmon Arm Roots and Blues. are doing

In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his family, playing tennis, and singing in local bands. As a current school board member, Marianne has served on several of her SD83 committees, including: Educational Guidance, First Her Nations Education Council, Equity, Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity, Salmon She Arm City Active Transportation Task Force, Shuswap Her Community Foundation Appointed Committee and others.

Marianne’s passion is working with everyone in District 83’s inclusive and welcoming environment to ensure student safety and success while continuing to work on SD83’s strategic plan.
